HASTINGS FLYBALL COMP – 18th/19th April 2009

What a relaxed competition it was at the Hastings Flyball comp. We came away with 3rd place in Division 1 and 2nd place in Division 4. Some of the dogs were feeling a little weary after two days of competition but all enjoyed the weekend away with their human friends.

Congratulations to "Jack" handled by Adrian & "Rippa" handled by Eric who both gained their "Onyx award" (1,300pts) during the course of the weekend. Well done!!!

Special thanks to Sue for box loading the 2 teams over the weekend.  Sue’s "Harry" did full runs in some of the warm-up periods but got too excited when we tried him in a heat…he isn’t far off though!

On the Sunday we also had a "Talk to the Animals" film crew doing a segment on flyball – it will be part of their new program starting in May, and will probably go to air around June/July.

We have a break now from flyball comps until the Border Challenge in Albury on Saturday 25th July.  In the meantime you can see us at a flyball demo at the RSPCA Million Paws Walk on Sunday 17th May at Albert Park Lake, South Melbourne.

If you've read anything at all about Flyball, you'll know it's fast, fun and adictive!

The Eastside Flyers consists of a group of flyball enthusiasts in the Eastern suburbs who have come together to basically have fun with their dogs and teach responsible dog ownership. We train at Pembroke Secondary College at 2 Old Hereford Rd, Mt Evelyn during the winter months on Saturday mornings (9am for beginners and 11am for team training), and Tuesday (beginner dogs) evenings at 6.00pm & Wednesday (advanced or team training) evenings at 6.00pm during daylight savings times.

We are very proud to have won the 2006 AFA Novice Flyball Club of the Year Award...this is awarded to recently formed teams who have contributed the most to Flyball during the year by the number of competitions hosted, competitions entered, and qualified Judges within the team.

Well done team!
