BASS COAST AGRICULTURAL SHOW - Wonthaggi - Saturday 14th January 2012

An exciting day was had by all who attended Wonthaggi, we came home with a 2nd place in div 1 with the “Lightnings” (Jack, Max, Cindy, Piper, Lizzie) with a best time of 19.001secs, so close to breaking the 19sec mark for the second time ever. 1st place in div 2 for the very consistent “Spitfires” (Rippa, Maggie, Renni, Maddi, Jack, Shae). 3rd place in div 3 with the “Hornets” (Zack, Darcy, Penny, Ted, Oscar). Sue would have been very proud with the 1st place in div 5 for the B52’s (Gus, Pippa, Shah, Bungee Lochie, Bella), the fluffies as she called them. A one minute silence was held by all flyballers prior to the fluffies first race, in memory of Sue.

Two Flyball title winners on the day, so a huge congratulations to “Maggie Mae” owned by Geoff & Anne Coleman and handled by Anne on gaining Maggie’s “Jeddah Award” title for having attained 3,000pts in Flyball racing. The second Eastside dog to have done so and only a handful of dogs in Australia have attained this award. That’ a lot of competitions.

Also congratulations to “Cindy” handled by Eric van Zuyden who attained their AFCh (Australian Flyball Champion) title.

A big congratulations to Gus” handled by Narelle Foulkes who ran a PB (personal best time) of 7.9secs…he broke the 8 second  barrier!

Well done everyone! Too many to thank as we all did our bit to help the team when in the ring and out of the ring, it was great day!

See you at the RACV Flyball Competition on Australia Day at the Domain Gardens!

The Eastside Flyers consists of a group of flyball enthusiasts in the Eastern suburbs who have come together to basically have fun with their dogs and teach responsible dog ownership. We train at Pembroke Secondary College at 2 Old Hereford Rd, Mt Evelyn during the winter months on Saturday mornings (9am for beginners and 11am for team training), and Tuesday (beginner dogs) evenings at 6.00pm & Wednesday (advanced or team training) evenings at 6.00pm during daylight savings times.
